Klaus Leopold’s Flight Levels are a thinking tool to differentiate between the levels of detail in companies and to better understand the necessary communication channels.

The flight levels do not represent hierarchical levels, but rather points of view or perhaps abstractions: Level 1 is teamwork, Level 2 focuses on end-to-end optimization and coordination, Level 3 is the strategic level.

They create a common understanding of who needs to talk to whom about what work and when.

Flight Levels are method-independent, but in detail you quickly realize that the author is deeply rooted in the Kanban community and many of his tools clearly show the Kanban origin.
